Shorewood is a compact, walkable village on Lake Michigan just north of Milwaukee’s East Side. Its tree-lined streets hold a mix of 1920s-era single-family homes, a large number of upper/lower duplexes, and condominiums and apartments along Oakland Avenue and Capitol Drive. Atwater Beach, the Oak Leaf Trail and the Oakland Avenue business district are all close at hand.
I live in Shorewood, and it’s one of the areas where I see the most interest in owner-occupied duplexes. Because property taxes and older-home maintenance are real factors here, we look carefully at the numbers before you commit.
